The Moomba Masters will return to the banks of the Yarra River with a splash in March 2009! The adrenaline- charged, family-fun event forms part of one of Australia's largest outdoor festivals, commonly known as Moomba Waterfest.
Held over the Labour Day long weekend (from Wednesday 4th March to Monday 9th March 2009) the Moomba Masters has forged its way as one of the worlds greatest waterskiing championships, celebrating its 49th year of successful competition in 2009.
Now into its sixth decade, the event has evolved, constantly realigning itself to express Melbourne's distinctive and dynamic city culture. The event remains central to the city's community festival program and continues to surprise, enthrall and exhilarate record crowds.
According to a Victorian Police survey in 2004, 950,000 people attended the event making it one of Melbourne's most popular free sporting and family events.
